Fender Super Champ XD Guitar Combo Amp

Fender Super Champ XD Guitar Combo Amp

The Fender Super Champ XD amplifier enters a new era by combining a real tube amp with up-to-date extras like versatile amp voicing and a wide palette of quality effects. There's no limit to the number of tones that can be coaxed from this little firecracker. Use the Super Champ XD amp to really bring your practice and recording sessions alive. The Fender Super Champ guitar amp of the early 1980s was an up-to-the-minute take on the venerable Fender Champ amplifier. It contained a powerful 10" speaker—large for a Champ—its all-tube overdrive capabilities were further enhanced by the inclusion of genuine Fender reverb. Bottom line, it had incredible gain and volume in a compact package—a real surprise for guitarists who were accustomed to hauling much larger amps to the studio or rehearsal hall.

The Fender Super Champ XD Guitar Combo Amp is part of the Vintage Modified line from acclaimed American guitar and amp-makers Fender. As part of the Vintage Modified series, the Super Champ XD is a remodeled version of the classic 1980s Super Champ, itself a remodel of the Fender Champion from 1948.
The XD combines authentic, vintage Fender tube amp construction with modern, technological extras like quality digital effects and nuanced tone controls for the best of old and new amplifier technologies.

With a ten inch speaker and 15 Watts of sound, this amp provides plenty of power to perfectly suit the studio or to rock out in practice sessions. The Fender tube construction consists of two 6V6 tubes and a 12AX7 preamp tube for a high quality, authentic sound. The Fender Super Champ XD combines this tube construction with a digital signal processor, allowing for a greater diversity of tones that enhance the classic tube amp sound that has made Fender famous.

Here's a nice comprehension video review of this amp complimentary of the guys over at GearWire:
The first of two channels on this amp is based on the vintage Fender Blackface amp sound and features Fender's signature clean tone. The second channel features sixteen switchable preamp voices that can create a wide range of tones perfect for any style of music, from warm and bluesy to crunchy and overdriven and every variety of classic rock tones in between. There is even an acoustic setting that cleanly and naturally replicates the tones of an acoustic guitar.

The Fender Super Champ also comes with sixteen effects with level controls and a line output for plugging the Super Champ into an external speaker for added volume. The classic warm tube sounds combined with the customization afforded by digital effects modeling makes this a highly versatile amp. Adding a foot pedal makes changing these settings as easy as tapping a foot.

Modeled both tonally and visually after the vintage 1980s Blackface models, the Super Champ XD features all black vinyl siding and a black panel with silver details. The Fender logo emblazoned in the top left corner is shiny silver to match the clean array of knobs along the top of the front panel. Weighing in at 24 pounds, this amp is extremely portable for the level of sound it provides, making it well-suited to the needs of most guitar players.

Combining classic Fender sound with state-of-the-art digital modeling capabilities, the Fender Super Champ XD is a sophisticated, versatile combo amp at a perfect scale for studio, home, or small-venue purposes. Durable construction from Fender combined with a sound that has already stood the test of time ensures that this amp is a worthwhile and long-lasting investment.
