When I play the G chord, I always have my fingers touching a string that I dont want. Like if my fingers were fat and touches two strings. Do I need my fret hand to practice?
ANSWER
The easiest way to avoid this is to fret the strings with the tips of your fingers. In the beginning when you're learning chords and your hand is adjusting to the chord shapes, you tend to fret the strings with the flat part of your fingers, using more space and touching more strings than necessary. Yet with time and practice, as your fingers' strength grows, you'll learn to fret with your fingertips.
Give it some time and allow your fingers to grow stronger and the problem should disappear by itself.
If it's a really big problem and doesn't seem to get better in time, try playing on an classical guitar - It's got a wider fretboard and strings that are further apart, thus easier to fret.
Hope that helps.
