With its responsive gain structure and warm/punch double-team of 12AX7 and EL84 tubes, Classic Series guitar amps are revered by gritty blues benders, chicken pickin' country cats and nouveau-Stones rockers alike. The Blue Marvel speakers and knobs are straight out of the rock 'n' roll revolution.

The majority of recording artists rely on tube amps for their warm, complex sound. The Peavey Classic 50/212 tube combo amp is a solid amplifier for any guitarist looking for pure tube tone.
Tube amplifiers form the backbone of many genres of music, including hard rock, metal, funk, blues and jazz and the Peavey Classic 50 is one all-tube amp that will go a long way with any of these styles.

The amplifier is powered by four EL84s and three 12AX7s which drive 50 watts of power through a pair of 12-inch speakers. This configuration is the hallmark of many legendary guitar tones from rock history.

The Peavey features two channels, clean and lead, which can be selected with the included foot-switch. The lead channel has a control for both pre- and post-gain settings; this gives the player total control of the overdrive level. There are also controls for the three-band EQ, reverb, and active presence. Overall, these controls make the Peavey a very versatile amplifier: it can handle everything from crunchy power chords to overdriven blues licks.

With its all-tube circuitry it should be no surprise that this Peavey model sounds incredible. The clean channel has the lush clarity and depth which is characteristic of classic 60s tube amps. Likewise, the lead channel is incredibly versatile: it can be softly overdriven for a sweet sustain or pushed hard for a dirty distortion. The Peavey is a great sounding amp, but the reverb in particular stands out in quality by providing a beautiful and useful hall-type reverb. The 50-watt power section also produces ample volume in all settings. This amp could easily cut above the noise of a rowdy club gig.

The Peavey 50/212 is available in two styles: modern black and vintage tweed. The tweed styling is a subtle nod to classic tube amplifiers of the past, such as the 1959 Fender Bassman. The modern black version features a sleek black cabinet and hardware. And just like the vintage tweed version, the modern Peavey is appointed with a chrome-plated chassis and a sturdy carry handle.

Total Impression

Simply put, this amp rocks!  Peavey is known world-wide for producing quality products and this amp is no exception. This amplifier is capable of many incredible classic tones, and with its integral effects loop it also mixes well with an assortment of modern stomp boxes and digital effects units.

Beyond its sonic capabilities, this amp is also sturdy enough to handle the rigors of road gigs. For the price, the Peavey Classic 50 is definitely a high-value amplifier.
