Some of you will recognise the song name, but wonder who 'The Kinks' are. That's because this song was really made famous (for those of us born after 1980) by the hugely popular rock band Van Halen. The Kinks were a 60's band from England who performed around the same time as the Beatles.
This song was later adapted by Eddie van Halen to include hard rock distortion, great guitar effects and some lightning fast solo's. Compare the two versions on Youtube for a great look (and a great laugh) at how the use of the guitar developed between the 60's and 80's.
